SPEAKING LIFE

Journal Entry by Sam Jones

S - Scripture: Acts of the Apostles 9:40 (NLT)
“But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said, “Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up!”

O – Observation
Peter knew that there was a miracle to be done. It wasn't showmanship, nor magic, but it was between Peter, God and Tabitha. What really stands out here is the process - he knelt, then prayed, then turned and commanded Tabitha to "get up".

A – Application
The sequence that Peter demonstrates here is how I need to sequence my prayer life. Kneel - take a position of surrender, abandonment before the Lord.  Pray, and be in tune with the Holy Spirit. Listen for His timing and prompting. Tabitha was dead.  One thing I know is that with challenges I have faced in my lifetime, dealing with a dead body and the expectation of bringing that person back to life, has not been on my list.  Peter surrendered to the Lord, coming humbly, yet boldly and literally speaking life into Tabitha.  Wow. I'd never thought of the whole 'speak life' thing as a literal action, but here is Peter doing just that.

P – Prayer
Lord God, help me to speak life, just as Peter did, into situations around me everyday.  I surrender my intentions to You, knowing that you will show me where, and when, You need me for your work. Amen.

CONFESSION LEADS TO GOD LISTENING

Journal Entry: Tony Gebran

S - Scripture:  PSALM 66: 16-20 (NLT)
Come and listen all you who fear God and I will tell you what he did for me.
For I cried out to Him for help, praising Him as I spoke.
If I had not confessed the sin in my heart the Lord would not have listened .
BUT GOD did listen, He paid attention to my prayer, praise God who did not ignore my prayer or withdraw
His unfailing love from me.

O – Observation
True  Confession leads to God listening ???
What I do understand is that if we are honest with ourselves we need to confess our sin and dependence on Him.
A prayer that understands that we are human and we don’t have it altogether.
There are many prayers in my life that I need God to answer and God to come through for me .
Jesus prayed according to His father's will and its His will that I desire to unfold in my life.

A – Application
The bottom line here is that we need help in this area, we need to confess our shortcomings to Him on a daily basis .
I need to recognise the importance of daily prayer and allow God to examine my heart and motives, submitting my
life to him by being real and putting it all on the altar, the good the bad and the ugly.

P – Prayer
Lord let me first come into Your presence through the precious blood of Jesus!!!  I thank you for your unfailing love
and your saving grace that you show to me everyday. I come to You the God who listens and answers prayers according to Your good and perfect will for my life.
