Walking in the Dust...what does that mean?

WALKING IN THE DUST...

Hebrew boys would: -

o    Memorize the Torah – 1st 5 books of the bible between 6 – 10 years of age

o    10yrs -14yrs  – memorize the rest of the OT

o    14+yrs the best of the best would be assigned to a Rabbi – they would become
      his disciple

o    They would leave their homes – family trade – and follow Him

o    Give up their lives to learn from the Rabbi – be like the Rabbi

·     They would follow so closely to their Rabbi – that they would be covered in the
       dust of the Rabbi

·      They would follow literally in his steps – in his footprints

Jesus said to to his disciples:

o    Come follow me

·         The disciples left their all – homes – professions – to follow Him

·         To be with Him – so closely that they would be walking in His dust

·         Not sure what they said to their families – Jesus is not known

·         Jesus did not choose the best of the best – opposite to the religious leaders
          of the day

·         The 12 Jesus chose would not be the 12 if we were picking a team

·         Jesus is not looking for the best of the best

·         He is looking for ‘whosesoever would believe in Him – Follow Him’

·         Jesus first words and last words to Peter – “Follow Me”

·         He loves you – He believes in You

‘Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men (not received formal instruction in the rabbinical schools – common men, not professional experts) they marveled (astonished & took note) and they realized that they had been with Jesus’  Acts 4:13 (NKJV)

·         They had walked in his dust

o    They had learnt from Him

o    They had become like Him – were becoming like Him

o    They knew Him

o    They were living out what they had heard, what they had learnt, who He was,
      who they were becoming

o    They were His disciples – His followers

The challenge for me – you is:

People’s perception who God is, who Jesus is, is greatly influenced by watching people who profess to be His followers – Christians.  Am I giving them a true picture of who Jesus Christ is.

PRAYER CHANGES THINGS

WE'D BE HONOURED TO PRAY FOR YOU

We have a prayer chain that operates all throughout the week praying for requests that are submitted each week.

We have all been in life situations where we needed someone to listen, pray for us, or speak a positive word. If there are family, financial, career, health, or other pressing needs or issues in your life, we consider it a joy to agree with you in prayer.

We would be honoured to partner with you in prayer.

WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF PRAYER

We'd also love to hear your stories about what God is doing in your life. All prayer requests and testimonies will be kept confidential.

WHERE YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS...

1. JESUS LOVES YOU!

The Bible says, "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life" The problem is that . . .

2. All of us have done, said or thought things that are wrong. This is called sin, and our sins have separated us from God. The Bible says, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God is perfect and holy, and our sins separate us from God forever. The Bible says “The wages of sin is death.” The good news is that, about 2,000 years ago,

3. God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. “God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” Jesus rose from the dead and now He lives in heaven with God His Father. He oers us the gift of eternal life - of living forever with Him in heaven if we accept Him as our Lord and Saviour. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me." God reaches out in love to you and wants you to be His child. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe on His name." You can choose to ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and come into your life as your Lord and Saviour.

4. If you want to accept Christ as your Saviour and turn from your sins, you can ask Him to be your Saviour and Lord by praying a prayer like this:

"Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life. I ask you in to my life and heart to be my Lord.

If you have prayed this prayer then you are now a child of God and we would like to celebrate this with you.
